At Compass Rose High School, we equip our students with the skills to succeed in the real world. As the field of technology grows all around us, we aim to prepare 7th- through 12th-grade students for technology career opportunities through a robust S.T.E.M. and computer science curriculum.
Academics
Students engage in rigorous, college-ready academics with opportunities to earn college credit through UT Austin OnRamps Dual Enrollment and challenge themselves through Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
Career & Technical Education
Students explore their interests and build career-ready skills through hands-on programs in Cosmetology, Computer Science, STEM, and other Career & Technical Education pathways.

Jesse Samudio
Principal
Mr. Samudio grew up in San Antonio and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Texas State University and a Master’s in Administration with a focus on Organizational Development from the University of the Incarnate Word.
With more than 15 years of experience in K–12 and higher education, Mr. Jesse Samudio is passionate about creating a high school experience where students feel connected, challenged, and prepared for life beyond graduation. A San Antonio native, he is proud to serve the community where he grew up and has helped expand student opportunities at Compass Rose through athletics and by laying the foundation for the school’s Cosmetology program.
Students quickly learn that Mr. Samudio is also a serious LEGO fan. He has built more than 100 sets, with favorites including Gotham City, The Starry Night, and the White House on display in his office. Whether building a LEGO set or new opportunities for students, he believes some of the best things are built one piece at a time.

What can my student expect from their high school experience at Compass Rose?
Students can expect a high school experience where they are known, challenged, and supported. We believe high school should be about more than earning credits—it should give students opportunities to discover their interests, build meaningful relationships, and develop the skills and confidence they need for what comes next.
How do students build connections and a sense of belonging at Compass Rose High School?
Building community is an important part of the Compass Rose High School experience. Students participate in Community Circles, Advisory team-building activities, campus traditions, student events, athletics, and other opportunities designed to help them build relationships and take pride in being a Raven.
What academic and extracurricular opportunities are available to students?
Students have access to a growing range of opportunities based on their interests and future goals. These include dual enrollment courses through UT Austin OnRamps, our Cosmetology pathway, Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming, athletics, electives, and college and career readiness experiences.
Transportation
We offer free transportation with centrally located bus stops throughout the city. Although we don’t do door to door pick ups, we are glad to work with you to find the closest bus stop to you!
